Cho Yiu Cynthia Ng (a.k.a seewhy)

Cho Yiu Cynthia Ng (a.k.a. seewhy) is a Hong Kong-born photographer and designer now based between Amsterdam and Utrecht. Since 2020, she has been involved in the Hong Kong Type Recasting Project, training in letterpress type casting at Stichting Lettergieten 1983 in the Netherlands, with further exchanges in Europe and Asia. Her cast lead type Hong Kong Type was exhibited at the Rijksmuseum and the Hong Kong Heritage Museum.

Her curiosity about the role of "the communication designer" and "the photographer as a mediator" between crafts and design has led her into a broader exploration of craft production, combining Western esoteric thought with contemporary and traditional media to explore cultural identity, craftsmanship, and heritage, bridging historical craft and contemporary artistic expression across cultures.
